  • April 1972

    Young Suhr started the company as a wagon jobber originally known as Auto Parts Unlimited.
  • June 1974

    Purchased a store building in Los Angeles which became the first location for Auto Parts Unlimited.
  • June 1975

    Incorporated Auto Parts Warehouse, Inc.
  • November 1976

    Purchased Knox-Seeman Auto Parts in Gardena, California (12,000 square feet). Incorporated A.P.W. Knox-Seeman Warehouse, Inc.
  • May 1982

    Developed a complete computerized management system to run company operations.
  • November 1990

    Purchased property adjacent to the Gardena store and added a 24,000 square feet warehouse to make it a total of 36,000 square feet of warehouse space.
  • June 1992

    Developed a remote ordering system enabling computer connectivity between APW and its customers.
  • December 1994

    Received Special Recognition Award from Fram Company. ($1,000,000 sales).
  • September 1995

    Opened first satellite warehouse (Pronto I) in Los Angeles, California (15,000 square feet).
  • December 1995

    Began donating funds to a charity organization with plans to donate more funds on behalf of each location as they open (As of 2007, APW has 8 locations and is currently donating over $30,000 per year to different organizations).
  • December 1995

    Received Special Recognition Award from Bendix Company ($2,000,000 sales).
  • October 1996

    Opened second satellite warehouse (Pronto II) in Cudahy, California (8,000 square feet).
  • February 1997

    Became a member of the National Pronto Association Product & Marketing Committee.
  • March 1998

    Opened third satellite warehouse (Pronto III) in Garden Grove, California (8,000 square feet).
  • December 1999

    Received Special Recognition Award from Monroe Company ($1,000,000 sales).
  • May 2000

    Opened fourth satellite warehouse (Pronto IV) in El Monte, California (10,000 square feet).
  • June 2000

    Purchased an 11,000 square feet warehouse building (Pronto III) in Garden Grove, California.

    Received Special Recognition Award from Standard Products Company ($2,000,000 sales).
  • December 2000

    Received Special Recognition Award from Gates Rubber Company ($2,000,000 sales).

    APW International, Inc. agreed to exclusively distribute GCK C.V. Axle products in North America.
